Terms of Service

Last updated: 3 September 2026

These terms set out the agreement between you and Khoshra (“khoshra”, “we”, “us”) when you use the app. By creating an account or using khoshra, you agree to them. We’ve tried to keep them readable — if anything is unclear, write to us.

The service

khoshra is a private reading and writing journal. It lets you keep daily pages, track the books you read, log habits and moods, and look back over your writing. The service is provided “as is” and may change as we add or retire features.

Your account

You create an account with an email address and password, or through Google. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has accessed your account.

You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it current. One person, one account — don’t share yours.

Your content

Everything you write into khoshra — journal entries, book notes, marginalia, habits and the rest — belongs to you. You grant khoshra a limited licence to store, sync and display your content back to you within the app, and to derive the summaries, reflections and “khoshra remembers” notes from your own writing. We will not publish your journal entries elsewhere.

You are responsible for the content you write, and for having the right to store any quotes or excerpts you copy from books.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use khoshra to store or share anything unlawful, infringing, or that harms another person.
  • Try to access another user’s data, or to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Use the news, payments or integration features to send spam or to impersonate others.
  • Scrape or mine khoshra’s pages or data in an automated way.

khoshra is for your personal journaling. The Gazette headlines come from third-party editorial sources and are provided for your reading, not for republication.

Donations & payments

“Buy a coffee” donations are voluntary one-time payments. Donations are a gesture of support and do not unlock a separate paid tier; all khoshra features remain available.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on donations — see our Refund Policy for how to request one.

Intellectual property

The khoshra name, design, code and editorial text (these terms, the landing pages, the notebook essays) are owned by khoshra and protected by copyright and trademark. Your journal content remains yours, as set out above. You may not copy, modify or redistribute khoshra’s own materials without our written permission, except to use the app as intended.

Suspension & termination

You can delete your account at any time from your profile, which removes your journal content as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or to protect the service. On closure, your right to use khoshra ends.

Warranties & liability

khoshra is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind. We work hard to keep your entries safe and synced, but we cannot promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, khoshra is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data arising from circumstances beyond our control — so please keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable.

Where law implies warranties that cannot be excluded, they apply only to the extent required.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as the service evolves. We’ll update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, note it in the app. Continuing to use khoshra after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Kolkata, West Bengal, unless your local consumer law gives you a different mandatory right.
